What Is a Cataract?
A cataract forms when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, blocking light from focusing clearly on the retina. This cloudiness makes your vision blurry, like looking through smudged glasses.
Cataracts can affect your ability to read, drive, or recognize faces, and they tend to worsen with age. The only way to restore vision is to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a clear, artificial lens - a safe, quick, and highly effective procedure known as cataract surgery.
